Alnmouth Village-based James Wilson lifted the Northumberland and Durham Open trophy for the first time after topping the leaderboard at Matfen Hall.
James and Seaton Carew-based Michael Skelton led a field of the region’s best professionals and amateurs in the event – which was first played in 1950 – after 36 holes after posting four under-par totals. In the playoff, James made a par at the 10th hole to claim the trophy and the winner’s cheque.
Meanwhile, amateur Harrison Sewell – who won the event in 2024 and 2025 – finished four shots back in third place.
