James Wilson picked up the £5,000 winner’s cheque as he led the field in the Johnnie Walker-sponsored Matfen Hall pro am.
Alnmouth Village-based James led the field in the North East & North West PGA event with a four under-par score of 40 points as Tom Robson (Matfen Hall) finished second with 39 points and three players – Jonathan Richardson (Hexham), John Harrison (The Northumberland) and Alex Dixon (City of Newcastle) – tied for third place.
In the team event, amateurs Shola Ameobi, Steve Watson and John Carver teamed up with Will Robson to top the leaderboard with an 11 under-par score of 83 points.
