Garforth-based Jake Wallis was a standout player as the Arkansas State University men’s golf team won their third Sun Belt Conference title at Annandale Golf Club.
Jake finished third overall in the strokeplay qualifying with a seven under-par score as the Red Wolves qualified in second place for the matchplay stage.
In the matchplay, Jake won a playoff hole to see the team earn a place in the final, then went on to win the deciding match on the 18th hole against Coastal Carolina as the team won 4-1 and secured their second conference title in the last three seasons.
With the win, the Red Wolves earned a spot in the NCAA Marana Regional at The Gallery Golf Club on May 18-20 as the eighth seeds.
The leading five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional advances to the NCAA Championships finals on May 29-June 3 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
