Ilkley Golf Club raises £12,500 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance

Yorkshire Air Ambulance benefited from a successful 2026 Captains’ Charity Day hosted by Ilkley Golf Club, with members and guests helping raise £12,500 for the lifesaving charity.

The event welcomed 22 teams of four, alongside additional members and guests for the evening supper. Excellent scoring throughout the competition saw Julia Bennett, Dominic Adams, Dagmar Hecker-Woodhead and Andrew Riley take first place with a score of 87 points. Second place went to Steven Spellman, Caroline Spellman, Nicholas Fearnley and Claire Fearnley with 86 points – with third place, which was decided on countback, going to Michael Briggs, Carol Briggs, Michael Henley and Helen Henley with 85 points.

The nearest the pin honours were claimed by Mike Henley in the men’s competition and Liz Waddington in the women’s competition.

Following the golf, attendees enjoyed a presentation from the Yorkshire Air Ambulance team, a buffet supper, the prize presentation, and a charity auction featuring holidays, sporting experiences and a wide range of donated items.

The event formed part of the club’s wider fundraising efforts this season, with additional activities and events planned in the coming months.

Club captains Mike Nixon and Marie Scott said: “We are incredibly proud of the support shown for Yorkshire Air Ambulance. To raise such a significant amount in one day reflects the generosity and spirit of our members and guests.”
