Harrison Sewell shoots course record to force playoff at English U18s

Reigning men’s Champion of Champions Harrison Sewell posted a course record in the final round to force a playoff at the English U18 Championship at Hesketh.

Harrison’s fourth round 64 catapulted him into the playoff with Bramhall’s Daniel Hayes and Colne Valley’s Charlie Rusbridge as all three players finished on 11 under-par.

Harrison (75-69-69-64) didn’t have a great start to the event, opening with a three over-par round on day one. Three under-par rounds on day two and the morning of day three saw him jump up the leaderboard before he shot an eight under-par course record, which included eight birdies, to force his way into the playoff.

All three players parred the first hole in extra time before the second playoff hole (the par five 18th) saw Daniel and Harrison find trouble with their approaches while Charlie made a comfortable two-putt birdie to win the event.

Meanwhile, Longhirst-based Charlotte Naughton finished in the top-10 following rounds of 79, 70, 72 and 71.
