Seaham’s Grant Dixon retained the Durham County Player of the Year title following a successful season in county colours.
Grant’s win in the afternoon singles of the Northern Counties League clash with Cheshire gave him just enough points to leapfrog South Shields’ Martin McCririck and retain the trophy – which is presented to the player who collects the most points in county matches as well as the Durham matchplay and strokeplay championships, and the Northern Counties Qualifying Championship (AKA The Big Six).
