A group of five girls, including 2024 Northern Golfer ladies’ Champion of Champions Jessica Dorritt, have been selected for the 2024/25 North of England Regional Squad.
Coached by JJ Vallely and managed by Sian Oakley, the squad of girls from Northumberland, Durham and Cumbria – including returning players Amy Burton, Rebecca Wildey and Millie Hixon as well as new members Jessica and Amelia Temperley – will take part in coaching sessions throughout the winter at Slaley Hall.
As part of the selection process, former regional squad member Rosie Belsham joined the girls and shared her experience of being in the squad before moving into the national girls’ and women’s teams, attending Baylor University in Texas, and turning professional earlier this year.
“Rosie was brilliant,” said Sian. “She came along first thing, brought loads of kit for the girls, ran a warm-up session, and did a Q&A at lunchtime. She couldn’t resist staying for the competitive short game challenges after lunch too. The girls loved hearing about her experiences and we can’t thank her enough for being part of the session, and inspiring the girls by showing them the path they might take.”
