Father and son Dave and Luke Tate have won scratch events in Scotland this summer.
Dave, a member of Whitburn, topped the leaderboard in the Links Golf Cup Ayrshire in September with a total of 120 points in the four-round event. Played over Western Gailes, Kilmarnock Barassie, Glasgow Gailes and Dundonald Links, Dave led the field by nine shots in the gross competition and finished fifth in the nett event. The win followed Luke claiming the same title in 2021.
Meanwhile, Luke – also a member of Whitburn and a third-year student at Bethany College in Kansas – led the field in the 36-hole Links Golf Salver Turnberry with a total of 63 stableford points – topping the leaderboard on countback with a superb level-par round of 71 on the Ailsa Course, including birdies on 17 and 18 in the second round.
