Durham County Golf Union welcomes new president and captain

The Durham County Golf Union has welcomed its new president and captain to their roles follow-ing the organisation’s 118th Annual General Meeting.

Houghton-le-Spring Golf Club’s Bernie Munroe has become the 37th president of the union, re-ceiving his badge of office from the county’s senior past-president, and fellow Houghton-le-Spring member, Ted Kirtley. Bernie will serve as president for two years, having been president-elect and taken on the duties of president in 2025 flowing the tragic passing of Gerry Johnson.

Meanwhile, Bishop Auckland Golf Club’s Mark Walker has succeeded Mike Greener as county captain, having supported Mike throughout his captaincy over the last two years.
