Dunstanburgh Castle’s Martin Carss and Andrew Graham teamed up to win the Northumberland and Durham Inter-County Foursomes at Alnmouth Village Golf Club.
Following the qualifying rounds, the Northumberland final saw Dunstanburgh’s Dave Baker and Martin beat Newbiggin as South Shields’ Martin McCririck and Gavin Quinn beat the team from Eaglescliffe in the Durham final.
With Dave replaced by Andrew for the inter-county final due to prior arrangements, the Dunstanburgh team dominated the early exchanges and raced to a 4up lead after nine holes on the Northumberland coast. They did not surrender the lead on the second loop and completed a 4&2 victory to lift the trophy for the time in their home club’s history.
