Champions assemble – Northern Golfer Champion of Champions 2026

The Longhirst Club will host the Northern Golfer Champion of Champions on Sunday September 13

The Northern Golfer Champion of Champions events will return to The Longhirst Club for the sixth time on Sunday September 13, 2026.

The events for men, women and juniors will take place concurrently over the Old Course at Longhirst for the first time, and entries are open now here.

Open to reigning (2026) club champions, there is no charge for competitors for the 18-hole tournaments, which bring together elite fields of amateur golfers from clubs in Northumberland, County Durham and Teesside along with selected clubs in the Scottish Borders, Cumbria and Yorkshire within Northern Golfer’s circulation area. While players can enter themselves online now if their club championship has been played, all eligible clubs will also receive invitations via email later this summer.

The region’s best amateur golfers have lifted the three trophies since Northern Golfer launched the junior event in 2015, following the success of that tournament with the launch of the ladies’ event and the return of the men’s Champion of Champions in 2017.

The 2025 events saw Cameron Ferguson, Jessica Dorritt and Adam Reay take home the trophies.

Consett & District-based Jessica successfully defended the women’s title she won for the first time in 2024 with a level-par round of 73, while Chester-le-Street-based Adam won the men’s event with a four under-par round of 69. In the junior event, Cameron – from Heworth (York) – made the trip north to claim the trophy with a two under-par round of 71.

“We’re excited to welcome the region’s best players back to Longhirst and test them on the Old Course for the first time,” said Longhirst director of golf Graham Chambers. “Hosting the three Champion of Champions events together in one day creates a fantastic spectacle of golf, and we’re looking forward to seeing top players compete at Longhirst again this September. Best of luck to everyone competing to earn their invitation in their club championships this summer – we’ll see you at Longhirst in September.”
