Bishop Auckland’s men’s team earned their place in the England Golf Champion Club event after winning the Durham County Golf Union’s Club Teams Championship at Beamish Park.
The team of Jamie Birkbeck (68-70), James Glenn (72-75) and Michael Henson (68-75) combined for a two over-par total and a 12-shot win over Whickham’s Bryan Levey, Darren Mccaig and James Simpson – as James led the individual scoring with a five under-par total.
The Bishop Auckland team will go on to represent Durham in the England Golf Champion Club event at Kedleston Park Golf Club in Derbyshire in September.
