Billy McKenzie wins the 2020protour’s Tour Final

Billy McKenzie led the field in the 2020protour’s Tour Final in the Scottish Borders.

Billy, who is attached to Howley Hall and Rowlands Castle Golf Club in Hampshire, led the field over three days at Peebles Golf Club and Macdonald Cardrona with scores of 37, 38 and 41 points for an eight under-par total.

“Winning the Tour Final is a great way to end the 2026 season,” said Billy, who splits his time between his home in Hampshire and Leeds, where his partner is based. “Following hip surgery, the shorter formats and reduced financial pressure of the 2020protour has been great for me this season. The events take place on some great courses, and a lot of thanks need to go to [tour founders] Chris [Hanson] and Adam [Walker] for building such a strong schedule for us to play.

“I hadn’t played Peebles or Cardrona before, and I enjoyed the test of both courses. Peebles is a fun, traditional members’ club and was a great addition to Cardrona. That’s a big boys’ golf course and it was a proper test.”

Billy has set his sights on continuing his work with coach Alex Clapp, who has supported his return to golf following hip surgery.

“It took more than a year to feel comfortable hitting shots, and it was as much a mental battle as a physical one,” added 32-year-old Billy. “Alex supported me a lot through that and we’ve got a plan to build on this season and go again in 2027.

“The Tour Final showed I can still play good golf under pressure, and I want to build on the win and get back to playing full-time. Add in a little coaching, and hopefully some support from sponsors, and I’m looking forward to getting back to where I want to be in the game.”

Meanwhile, Daryl Ley finished three points back in Scotland to claim second place, as tour founder Chris Hanson – who topped the order of merit for 2026 – and amateur Dylan Shaw-Radford tied for third place with scores of 111 points.
