Andrew Langford has been appointed president of the Harrogate & District Union of Golf Clubs for 2026/27 following the union’s AGM at Romanby Golf & Country Club.
Andrew, who succeeds Ilkley’s Ian Hepworth in the role, is the first member of Romanby to hold the position in the club’s 24-year membership of the union.
A member of Romanby since the club opened in 1994, Andrew has held various positions there, including serving as captain three times and currently holding the position of club secretary. He has also been active within the union, serving as competition secretary for seven years.
“It’s an honour to be nominated by the past presidents to fulfil the role, and it is good to be the first member of Romanby to hold the position,” said Andrew. “Building on the work of past presidents, I would like to continue to build access to golf across all areas. It will also be an honour to lead the team to deliver the Inter-District Team Championship at Rudding Park in September.”
