ACED Junior Tour

ACED Junior Tour to begin in 2025

Juniors in the North East will have new playing opportunities in 2025 following the launch of the ACED Junior Tour.

Created by Blackwell Grange-based PGA professional Aaron Cox, the junior tour will comprise five events across Durham and Yorkshire in its first season, leading to a final at Blackwell on August 12.

Venues for 2025 events include Billingham (April 17), Wearside (April 22) and Barnard Castle (July 24). An event will also take place on April 23, with the venue to be confirmed. An event at Richmond (Yorks) will be the tour’s first major, with double order of merit points on offer at the two-day tournament on May 27-28.

“We’ve got so many juniors in this part of the region who want to play local courses in tournament conditions, and the ACED Junior Tour is all about giving them that opportunity,” said Aaron. “The big benefit of this new tour is for parents, who won’t need to travel hours from home so their kids can take up these opportunities.”

The tour will welcome players of all ages and handicap levels, with the only entry requirement being a WHS handicap. Juniors will be split into age and gender categories, with under-10 boys and girls playing nine-hole events – while the under-13, under-15 and under-18 boys and girls’ groups will play 18 holes at each event.

Players will earn points in their respective orders of merit at each event, with the leading players competing in the tour’s first final at Blackwell Grange on August 12. The top six juniors in each age category will play for the Order of Merit Championship on finals day, with juniors outside the top-six playing in the Reserve Junior Final Tournament on the same day.

Information on tournament entry fees and the details of the April 23 event will be published on www.acedgolfacademy.com ahead of the new season.
