The golf swing often becomes too long or too short because players fail to match the sequence of the body’s rotation and the hinging of the wrists – either the body turns too fast and the club hinges very late, creating a long swing; or the club hinges early and the body fails to turn properly, creating a short swing.
A great drill to improve your swing sequence involves placing your right hand (for the right-handed player) onto the shaft. From this position, make some practice swings and you’ll get a great feel for the position of your body and the club through the swing.
Return to your normal grip and you should feel a better connection between the movements of your body and the club.
