County colours were awarded to players from Northumberland and Durham in the latest round of Northern Counties League matches.
Cameron Thoburn and Harrison Sewell received their colours following Northumberland’s 14-4 win over Cumbria at City of Newcastle Golf Club.
Meanwhile, Wayne Melles received his colours after Durham’s 11.5-6.5 defeat by Yorkshire at Eaglescliffe.
Wins in both the foursomes and the singles for Harrison and Cameron saw them play their part in Northumberland’s crushing victory with a 5-1 result in the foursomes and a 9-3 singles score.
Wayne reached the six-point total needed to earn his colours with a half in the foursomes and a 4&2 singles win over Lewis Hollingsworth at Eaglescliffe. His half point with Grant Dixon was Durham’s only success in the foursomes before Durham battled back to share the singles 6-6.
In the third match of the second round of fixtures, Cheshire beat Lancashire 10-8 at Bromborough.
