Take control

When playing in the wind, it’s important to try and use the wind to your advantage, and teeing the ball at different heights is a great way to do this.

Generally, I’d want to see players teeing the ball like the one in the middle of the three here, with roughly half the ball over the clubface.

When playing downwind, try teeing the ball a little higher, just like the ball on the left. This will help create a higher launch and help you take advantage of the wind.

When playing into the wind, tee the ball ever so slightly lower to help create a lower launch with a flatter trajectory to get the ball working through the wind. Don’t go too low with this one – teeing the ball too low will encourage you to hit down on the shot and create too much spin.

Test these out and find the best position for you for each scenario.
