Whickham has appointed John Paul as the club’s PGA professional to head up coaching at the new Hollinside Academy.
John, 24, who trained with PGA professional David Mather and qualified in 2016, will be launching coaching programmes ahead of the new season as well as making use of the academy’s driving range, short course and GC2 simulator for tuition and custom fitting.
He said: “The opportunity to come to Whickham as my first head professional job was too good to pass up. I’ve received a warm welcome from all the members and can’t wait to get the coaching programmes and pro shop up and running ahead of start of the season.
“The facilities are fantastic at the new academy and we’ll be delivering junior coaching and Get into Golf from March.
“I want to build a reputation for coaching here, for established players and beginners, and become a trusted fitting centre on the back of the fantastic facilities on offer.
“Its an exciting time for Whickham and I’m looking forward to being part of it.”
