The Northumberland Golf Club’s Harrison Sewell and Paul Caldicott lifted the Inter-County Foursomes trophy at Alnmouth Village Golf Club following a 4&3 victory over Chester-le-Steet’s Brian Nelson and Kevin Suggett.
Harrison and Paul completed the win having come through the Northumberland final with a 3&1 win over City of Newcastle duo Andrew Minnikin and Phil Ridden. Meanwhile, Brian and Kevin reached the inter-county match after coming back from 5dn with eight holes to play to beat Durham City’s Richard Lee and Alex Robinson on the second extra hole of the Durham final.
In the final match, Paul and Harrison – the reigning Northern Golfer men’s Champion of Champions – went 4up through seven holes following birdies at the sixth and seventh. Despite the Durham duo hitting back with a birdie at the ninth, they couldn’t claw back the deficit on the back nine and a birdie at the 15th sealed the 4&3 win for The Northumberland – adding to their last win in the event in 2018 and following up their runner-up finish in 2023.
