Carlisle’s Nicola Wood added her name to the Cumbria County Ladies Golf Association Championship trophy with victory at Seascale – joining her mum and aunt on the list of winners.
Nicola (pictured centre) joined her mum Alyson Wood (Champion in 1998 and 2004, pictured right) and aunt Janette McWhirter (Champion in 1985 and 1991-9494, pictured left) on the championship trophy following her victory over Carus Green’s Harriet Barker in the event’s final at Seascale.
“I’m over the moon to win my first county championship,” said Nicola following the event. “To add my name alongside my mum and auntie is really special, and it was quite an emotional moment when I managed to do it.
“I’m enjoying playing a little bit more than I have done in the last few years and I’m really looking forward to being part of County Match Week later this season for the first time in quite a while. I’m hoping to play a few more events this summer and the county championship has definitely inspired me to compete a bit more going forward.”
