Bishop Auckland’s Jamie Birkbeck was honoured with a cap marking his 50th appearance for Durham following the county men’s team’s season-opening match against Yorkshire at Wheatley.
Jamie earned half a point in his 50th match, sharing the spoils in the top singles game against Tom Osborne as Durham were beaten 5.5-12.5 away from home.
There was also a presentation for South Shields’ Ben Willis, who received his county colours after the match having earned half a point in the foursomes alongside Martin McCririck before narrowly losing 1dn in the afternoon singles.
