Applications open for Northumberland academy coaching system

An assessment day for the Northumberland academy coaching system will take place in September with some of the county’s leading coaches.

The coaching system is open to players aged 10-17 and the academy will deliver 18 hours of coaching to each player during the 2023/24 off-season. The cost for this coaching is £99.

This year’s assessment day will be held at Close House on Saturday September 9.

Following the selection process, coaching sessions take place across the county with the support of highly skilled PGA professionals. This year, sessions will be hosted by academy coaches Steve Fawcitt (Slaley Hall), John McKenna (Tynemouth), Joe Clements (Alnmouth), and Close House’s Sally Hinton and Tim Cockill.

Further to this porgramme, the men’s county system will continue to host the Boys’ Junior Elite Academy with John McKenna, Steve McKenna and Mark Penny. For this coaching, you will need to be selected by the county and will be invited to an assessment day. The ladies county will be hosting the Girls’ Junior Elite Academy, and players will be selected at the start of 2024.

Applications for the assessment day close on September 6. For more information and to apply, contact Northumberland academy coordinator Marcus Webb, WhatsApp 07714 612 177 or email m_webb8@sky.com
